Job summary

YWCA El Paso del Norte Region is seeking a part-time Swim Lesson Instructor to lead and coordinate swim lessons and water safety programs for all ages at multiple locations in El Paso, TX. The role emphasizes creating a fun, educational, and safe learning environment.

The position requires prior swim instruction experience, completion of internal certifications, CPR/First Aid, and willingness to work weekends and evenings.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent or be a minimum of 16 years of age enrolled in school with an active student status.
• One year practical experience in swim training and conditioning, water safety and aquatic fitness; or equivalent experience.
• Lifeguard certification preferred; certification must remain current throughout employment.
• Must possess swimming skills to successfully pass a swim test.
• Complete in-house Swim Lesson Instructor Certification before instructing.
• CPR and First Aid Certification required.
• Must be able to work weekends, late afternoons, and evenings.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate individual or group swim lessons and water safety skills.
• Instructs individuals and groups in aquatic activities including beginner to advanced levels.
• Prepare weekly swim lesson plans and follow YWCA guidelines.
• Develop lesson plans for Levels I–IV and advanced swimmers.
• Teach swim techniques and strokes to advance participants.
• Educate on water safety and drowning prevention.
• Design sessions to maximize class participation and safety.
• Set up and store class equipment; monitor equipment condition.
• Monitor attendance and enrollment; maintain client progress files.
• Attend in-service training and health fairs or events.
