Job summary

YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh is seeking a part-time Swim Instructor to lead and motivate students in evening and weekend morning classes. You will implement lesson plans, supervise pool activities, and ensure safety in accordance with YMCA guidelines.

The role requires at least 16 years old, one year of experience preferred, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain on hire).

Qualifications

• Minimum of 16 years of age.
• 1 year of experience preferred.
• CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid certification and Emergency Oxygen or ability to obtain upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintains active surveillance of the pool area.
• Instructs swimming lessons per YMCA guidelines with prepared lesson plans.
• Plans and implements activities aligned with YMCA values.
• Develops new approaches to meet participant needs.
• Adheres to safety and cleanliness standards.
• Builds relationships with students and parents; encourages involvement and volunteers.
• Follows YMCA policies and medical and emergency procedures.
• Maintains positive relationships with families and staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
