Job summary

The City of Fort Lauderdale is seeking a temporary Assistant Swim Coach to support the USA Swimming program under the Head Coach. You will develop stroke technique, plan seasonal workouts, and run daily practices with safety as a priority.

Requirements include at least 4 years of competitive swimming experience at USA Swimming or collegiate level, plus current USA Swimming coaching certification and Athlete Protection Training. ASCA Level I or higher is preferred; fingerprinting may be required.

Qualifications

  • Must have 4+ years of competitive swimming experience at USA Swimming/high school/collegiate level.
  • Minimum 1 year coaching youth at age-group level.
  • Current USA Swimming coaching certification with Athlete Protection Training; background check.
  • ASCA Level I Coach or higher required or preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures the safety of swim team members, performing lifesaving and/or first aid and/or CPR procedures when required.
  • Conduct swim team workouts and provide instruction to swim team members; develop swimming skills and training progression.
  • Attend regular competitions and promote program goals and activities.
  • May assist with team events, fundraisers, and meet entries as needed.
  • Operate HyTek Team Manager and Team Unify software and maintain related records.
