Job summary

Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals, Inc. is seeking a Certified Surgical Technician (CST) to join the Honickman Center team on a part-time basis. The CST will help maintain the sterile field, set up OR equipment, assist with gowning, gloving, and draping, and precept other surgical staff.

This role emphasizes patient- and family-centered care within the perioperative suite and requires completion of a CST training program and the appropriate certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED and CST program graduation required.
• Strong communication with patients, families, and care partners.
• Understanding of perioperative safety and sterile field maintenance.
• Knowledge of surgical procedures, equipment and OR policies.
• Ability to precept and mentor other surgical team members.

Responsibilities

• Maintain OR sterility; set up instruments and equipment for procedures.
• Participate in time-outs and ensure patient safety and high-quality care.
• Assist with gowning/gloving and sterile field prep; drape patient.
• Count sharps, sponges, and instruments; report discrepancies.
• Support supplies and equipment; assist in unit operations; provide precepting as needed.
