Mountain State Oral & Facial Surgery in Roanoke, VA seeks a skilled Surgical Assistant to support our oral and maxillofacial team. This part-time role focuses on assisting during procedures, maintaining patient safety, and ensuring efficient surgical flow.

The ideal candidate will have certification in surgical assisting, relevant healthcare experience, and strong communication and teamwork skills. Proficiency in sterilization, infection control, and anesthesia documentation is required, with

• High school diploma or equivalent required; certifications preferred.
• Experience in surgical or related healthcare role preferred.
• Dental/surgical assisting certification preferred.
• Current DAANCE, Nitrous Oxide (N2O), and CPR certifications required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Knowledge of instruments, sterilization, and OR protocols.
• Detail-oriented with ability to multitask in a high-pressure environment.
• Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and compassionate care.

Responsabilidades

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
• Assist physicians during patient examinations and procedures.
• Perform diagnostic imaging, including X-rays, as needed.
• Review and document patient medical histories.
• Ensure all required consent forms are properly completed and signed.
• Prepare and process patient prescriptions with accuracy.
• Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, EKG, and pulse oximetry.
• Accurately document anesthesia records and patient charting.
• Maintain patient airways during sedation and perform suctioning when necessary.
• Provide post-operative monitoring and remain with patients until released to a caregiver.
• Prepare and sanitize surgical and examination rooms.
• Assist with ongoing surgical procedures as needed.
• Uphold strict patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
• Support overall clinic operations by maintaining patient flow and completing additional duties assigned by the Clinical Manager.
