Job summary

MarinHealth is seeking a Surgical Assistant to perform a variety of patient care, transportation and related support tasks under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or physician. The role supports care across age groups from infants to older adults in a 12-hour day shift, with a 36-hour workweek.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of a Nurse Assistant/EMT/Orthopedic Technician or related program, and at least one year in a patient-care role.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Completion of a Nurse Assistant program, Emergency Medical Technician program, Orthopedic Technician program or related program is preferred.
• A minimum of the equivalent of one year full-time experience in a patient care position is required.

Responsibilities

• Lifts, moves or assists patients into and out of bed; positions patients.
• Transfers patients to and from transport devices and chairs.
• Pushes and pulls wheelchairs and gurneys occupied by patients.
• Maintains cleanliness and assembly of wheelchairs, gurneys, bed and related equipment.
• Weighs patients and records in chart.
• May take vital signs (BP/HR/RR/temperature).
• Documents all patient care or tasks per department policy.
• Assists nursing staff with bed making, baths, feeding and personal care.
