Job summary

MarinHealth Medical Center is seeking Surgical Assistants to perform a variety of patient care and support tasks under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or physician. Education includes a HS diploma with preferred CNA/EMT/Orthopedic Tech training and at least one year in patient care.

BLS is required at hire, IAMTAC within 30 days. Primary work is day shift in the United States with standard 40-hour work weeks, supporting a fast-paced surgical environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred; CNA/EMT/Orthopedic Tech programs preferred.
• Minimum one year full-time patient care experience (Nurse Aide, Hospital Technician or Orthopedic Technician).
• BLS required at hire; CNA or EMT required at hire; IAMTAC within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Lifts, moves or assists patients into and out of bed; positions patients.
• Transfers patients to/from transport devices and chairs; handles wheelchairs and gurneys.
• Maintains cleanliness and inventory of wheelchairs and equipment; prepares room areas.
• Records vital signs and documents patient care per department policy.
• Assists nursing staff with daily patient care activities.
