Job summary

UF Health Gainesville is seeking a part-time Support Tech on a nursing unit (20 hours/week). The role combines mobility assistance with lifting equipment and unit desk duties, including nurse call system management, phones, stocking, filing, and maintaining a clean environment.

Ideal candidates are dependable, with strong communication, basic computer skills, and understanding of medical terminology. Public contact experience is valued.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Demonstrated computer experience; demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated excellence in public contact skills (respect for others, courteous, tactfulness).
• Demonstrated ability to problem-solve, prioritize, and display initiative.
• Dependability, ability to accept direction and interact with others as a team member essential.
• Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to work independently.
• Demonstrated understanding of medical terminology.
• Previous clerical or nursing assistant experience preferred.
• College degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Mobility assistant role: support nurse to optimize patient mobility using lifting equipment.
• Unit desk support: manage nurse call system needs, answer telephones, stock supplies/equipment.
• File records and ensure a clean, uncluttered environment of care.
• Provide nursing support to uphold patient advocacy and high standards of care.
