Job summary

Amherst-Pelham Regional School District in Amherst, Massachusetts is seeking Substitute Paraeducators for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a part-time, on-call position working across the three districts.

You will work one-to-one or in small groups to support students under the direction of a supervising teacher or educational specialist. The ideal candidate will have a passion for student learning, strong communication skills, and the ability to adapt to diverse classroom and student needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate's degree or higher preferred.
• Prior work experience with children in an educational setting preferred.
• Proficient in using technology and educational software.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Work one-to-one with students to provide instructional support.
• Work with students in small groups to reinforce learning.
• Support students at the direction of a supervising teacher or educational specialist.
• Assist students with performing tasks and activities as needed.
• Deliver instruction and behavioral directives as directed by the supervising teacher.
• Monitor and maintain student safety, including possible use of physical interventions when necessary.
• Assist in implementing IEPs and behavior plans as directed.
• Support students with diverse learning needs, including those with disabilities.
• Perform clerical support duties and maintain records.
• Uphold school policies and promote a safe learning environment.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure cohesive educational experience.
