Instituto del Progreso Latino seeks a Substitute ESL Literacy and Citizenship Instructor in Chicago for the Adult Education program. This part-time role supports Citizenship and English literacy classes and requires delivering lessons, assessing student progress, and maintaining daily attendance.

Qualifications

• B.A. in language, math, subject area or education.
• 1 year classroom experience teaching adults.
• Previous syllabus and lesson plan writing as instructor.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
• Maintain confidentiality; work well in a team; strong organizational skills.
• Enthusiasm for teaching; uses current best practices.

Responsabilités

• Present material for program classes according to curriculum guidelines.
• Evaluate student progress using quizzes, exams, and portfolios.
• Administer and grade exams and quizzes.
• Prepare syllabus documents as requested.
• Be present for a minimum of 95% of scheduled days.
• Motivate students to attend and retain attendance.
• Maintain accurate attendance records.
• Provide instruction in morning and evening if needed.
• Attend professional development as requested by supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
