Job summary

Right At School is seeking an Educator to support After School programs inside Lamar area schools. You will lead activities, supervise students, and provide homework help in a safe, structured environment.

The role offers part-time on-call shifts with afternoon hours (2:45 PM–6:00 PM) and a pay rate of $15–$17 per hour, depending on education and experience. Prior licensed childcare experience is required; English proficiency is essential.

Qualifications

  • Six months experience in a licensed childcare facility or school with a large group of children.
  • Able to meet state-specific requirements and obtain First Aid/CPR within 30 days if required.
  • 18+ years of age and proof of HS diploma/GED.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and check in students; record attendance.
  • Plan and lead daily activities and enrichment lessons for the age group.
  • Supervise during free play, snack, and transitions to ensure safety.
  • Assist with homework tasks and academic support as needed.
  • Communicate with parents/guardians at pick-up/drop-off.
  • Log incidents and safety concerns promptly to supervisor.

Our programs deliver hands‑on enrichment activities, homework support, active play, social-emotional learning, and more - all guided by a mission to inspire a love of learning, support schools, and give families peace of mind. As an Educator, you'll work directly with kids - leading activities, facilitating a safe and structured environment, and building relationships - while gaining valuable experience in education and child development.

Pay Rate: $15-$17 per hour (based on education and experience)

REQUIRED Experience: Six months experience working in a licensed childcare facility or school setting with large group of children.

Program Hours: After School: 2:45 PM-6:00 PM (must be able to work Monday through Friday. Unable to accommodate partial work week shifts at this time.

Location: Located inside the Lamar area schools

Schedule: Part-time On-Call As-Needed; hours may include before school, after school, recess care, and/or full-day care during breaks, depending on site needs.

Requirements:

  • Ability to meet state-specific requirements;
  • At least six months of work in a licensed group childcare center or school with a.large group of children.
  • First Aid and CPR-in-person (if required- ability to obtain within 30 days of employment)
  • 18+ years of age
  • Proof of High School diploma/GED required

What You'll Do

  • Greet and check in students at the start of each session; take attendance and maintain accurate records
  • Plan and lead daily activities, games, and enrichment lessons appropriate for the age group you're working with
  • Facilitate homework time and support with academic tasks as needed
  • Supervise students during free play, snack time, and transitions, ensuring a safe and structured environment
  • Address minor conflicts or behavior issues using positive guidance techniques
  • Communicate with parents/guardians at pick-up and drop-off regarding their child's day
  • Report incidents, injuries, or safety concerns to your Program Manager or site lead promptly; log incident reports
  • Set up and clean up program space and materials each dayAttend brief daily team meetings to coordinate with other staff

What We're Looking For

  • At least verifiable six months of experience working with children under 13 (preferred) in a licensed childcare center or school setting
  • Comfortable leading groups of children in activities and games
  • Outstanding customer service and communication skills with both children and adults
  • Reliable and punctual; able to commit to a consistent part‑time schedule
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs and stand, walk, bend, and kneel throughout a shift
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to support additional program locations if needed

Texas State Requirements

* High School Diploma/GED

* 18 years of age

* Six months of previous experience in childcare in a group licensed childcare setting or school-type setting (will require verification) with a large group of children.

* Live within the listed school district area

* Fluent in English and Bilingual is a plus
