Responsibilities include safe transportation, student supervision, route adherence, vehicle inspections, safety compliance, and adapting to diverse needs. A valid driver’s license with CT endorsements and a GED are required.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Driver’s License with CT V or F endorsement training provided.
• Background check, drug screening, and DCF credentialing required.
• A clean driving record is mandatory.
• 5+ years of driving experience preferred with knowledge of Waterbury geography and CT roadways.
• Proficient in using smartphones and GPS for route optimization.
• Strong verbal communication and calm, professional demeanor while supervising students.

Responsibilities

• Safe Transportation: Operate a school van or passenger vehicle per state laws and safety standards.
• Student Supervision: Monitor students during boarding, transport, and off-loading; communicate updates to admins/caregivers.
• Route Management: Follow routes and schedules with emphasis on safety and punctuality.
• Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct pre/post-trip inspections; keep vehicle clean and fueled; report maintenance needs.
• Safety Compliance: Ensure emergency equipment is in working order; participate in required training.
• Specialized Care: Adapt to diverse student needs and backgrounds.
