Qualifications

• Must possess a valid driver’s license; CT V or F endorsement training provided.
• Background check, drug screening, and DCF credentialing required.
• Clean driving record is mandatory.
• 5+ years driving experience preferred; good knowledge of Waterbury geography and CT roadways.
• Proficient with smartphones and GPS navigation for route optimization.
• Strong communication skills and calm, professional demeanor while supervising students and navigating traffic.
• Availability for early morning shifts.
• Education: High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Safe Transportation: Operate a school van or passenger vehicle in compliance with state laws and safety standards.
• Student Supervision: Supervise students during boarding, transport, and off-loading; communicate updates to administrators and caregivers as needed.
• Route Management: Follow assigned routes and schedules with priority on safety and punctuality.
• Vehicle Maintenance: Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections; keep vehicle clean and fueled; report maintenance needs.
• Safety Compliance: Ensure emergency equipment is in working order and participate in required training.
• Specialized Care: Adapt to diverse student needs in communication, physical and emotional aspects.
