Job summary

NM School for the Deaf Transportation in Santa Fe, NM is seeking a part-time Substitute Driver to transport students to and from school in a safe and punctual manner. The role includes pre-trip and post-trip inspections and strict adherence to NMSD policies while ensuring student belongings and safety.

Requires a NM driver’s license; Defensive Driver Certification is provided after hire. ASL fluency is preferred to support communication with students and staff.

Qualifications

• Defensive Driver Certification is provided by NMSD upon hiring.
• Current New Mexico driver’s license is required.
• ASL fluency is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transport students to and from school in a safe and timely manner.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Follow all NMSD policies regarding student transportation and vehicle use.
• Obey all traffic laws.
• Report vehicle issues to the Transportation Coordinator.
• Be responsible for route papers, keys, and gas card; sign for these items.
• Ensure students have their belongings including hearing aids/cochlea implants.
• Safekeep student medicine and hand to nurse/parents/guardians.
• Monitor student behavior and report misbehavior in writing.
