Job summary

John Deere is seeking a Part Time Student in Product Engineering for the Waterloo, IA location. This onsite role is designed to augment regular staff and supports engine certification, exempt labeling, and process tools while you work around your school schedule YEAR-ROUND.

Applicants must be full-time students, with a May 2028 or later graduation date, GPA 2.8+, and be able to commute to Waterloo daily. A range of benefits and an inclusive team environment are provided.

Qualifications

  • Ideally pursuing a degree in MIS, Engineering, Technology, Networking or Business; others encouraged to apply.
  • Must be registered as a full-time student at a local accredited university.
  • Graduation date May 2028 or later.
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above.
  • Available to work 10–20 hours/week during the academic year.
  • Available to work 16–40 hours/week during the summer.
  • Must commute to Waterloo, IA daily year‑round.
  • Freshman to Junior standing preferred; seniors and those pursuing advanced degrees may apply.

The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company’s regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule YEAR-ROUND.

Your Responsibilities

As a Part Time Student - Product Engineeringfor JD Power Systems located in Waterloo, IA, you will:

  • Learn how to identify, analyze, and apply information to support engine certification and compliance process/plans.
  • Learn how to identify, analyze and apply information to support exempt label process.
  • Perform activities according to project plans and schedule.
  • Maintain and evolve existing tools and processes.
  • Produce a variety of correspondence in support of department processes.
  • Learn and apply company policies and practices; learn company products.

What Skills You Need
  • Ideally you will be pursuing a degree in Management Information Systems, Engineering, Technology, Networking, Business; others encouraged to apply
  • Must be registered as a full-time student at a local accredited University
  • Graduation date of May 2028 or later
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
  • Available to work 10-20 hours/week during the academic year
  • Available to work 16-40 hours/week during the summer semester
  • Must be able to commute to the work location in Waterloo, IA on a daily basis year-round
  • Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior standing students are preferred, Senior standing and those pursuing Advanced degrees may apply.

$15 - $40 hourly based on published rates for business function and education level.
