Job summary

The New York Public Library is seeking a part-time Library Page at Fort Washington Library. This position is designed for students and offers a pathway to learn library operations while assisting patrons with research and materials.

Responsibilities include shelving, assisting patrons, and supporting public spaces during events, with a 15-hour weekly schedule that includes evenings and Saturdays.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in a degree program or accredited school.
• Proper employment certificate for minors under 18 as required by NYS law.
• Ability to sort items in alphanumeric order with accuracy.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to follow detailed instructions.
• Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
• Reliability and professionalism; ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide courteous customer service to library patrons.
• Shelve and organize books, CDs, DVDs and other materials by alphabet and number.
• Assist patrons in locating materials and referring to staff as needed.
• Help patrons with basic computer, internet, and AV equipment usage.
• Locate and prepare materials requested by patrons.
• Assist staff with checking materials for damage and removal from shelves.
• Help set up public spaces for events and programs.
• Perform other related tasks as needed.
