Job summary

The New York Public Library is seeking a part-time Library Page at the Harry Belafonte 115th Street Library. This educational role supports public service, shelving, and patron assistance with flexible 14-hour weeks, including evenings and Saturdays.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be currently enrolled in an accredited educational program.
• Must have or be able to obtain employment certificate for minors under 18 as required by NYS law.
• Ability to sort and arrange items in alphanumeric order accurately.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to follow detailed instructions in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent customer service and ability to work with a diverse patronage.
• Interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills and teamwork.
• Basic computer and technology skills including MS Office and Google Applications.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service to the public.
• Shelve and arrange books, CDs, DVDs and other library materials alphabetically and numerically.
• Answer in-person inquiries and assist patrons in locating materials or directing to the right staff.
• Assist patrons with basic computer, internet and AV equipment usage.
• Locate and prepare library materials requested by patrons.
• Assist staff with checking materials for damage and shelving issues.
• Help set up public spaces for events and programs.
• Perform other related tasks as needed.
