John Deere Waterloo Works in Waterloo, IA is seeking a Part Time Student – Industrial Engineer to support lean manufacturing, wage planning data, and capacity planning. This onsite role is designed for students balancing classes.

You will assist with methods, changes and reports, participate in implementing new manufacturing processes, and use Microsoft Office tools. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related field.
• Ability to work 16–20 hours during the academic year and 30–40 hours during the summer.
• GPA 2.8 or above and must be a full-time student in a U.S. college or university.
• Must be able to commute to Waterloo, Iowa year-round.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, including Outlook and Excel.

Job Description & Responsibilities

As a Part Time Student – Industrial Engineer for John Deere Waterloo Works Drivetrain located in Waterloo, IA, you will:

• Assist in the creation and management of sequence of events documentation, including output standards used for baseline data for wage performance pay plans, product costing, and capacity planning.
• Work with electronic tools to perform engineering functions such as methods change tracking and various reports.
• Develop plans of limited scope to support lean manufacturing.
• Participate in the implementation of new manufacturing processes and technology.

Visa sponsorship is NOT available for this position.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree, ideally in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or any additional technical and relevant degree.
• Ability to work 16–20 hours during the academic year and 30–40 hours during the summer semester.
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
• Must be registered as a full‑time student at a U.S. local accredited college or university.
• Graduation date of May 2028 or later.
• Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above.
• Must be able to commute to the work location in Waterloo, Iowa, on a daily basis year‑round.
• Experience with Microsoft Office software including Outlook and Excel.
• Demonstrated good written and verbal English communication skills.
• Ability to work in cross‑functional groups and a team environment.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Compensation

$15 – $40 hourly, based on published rates for business function and education level.
