Job summary

John Deere invites a Part-Time Student to join the Dynamic Systems Modeling (DSM) team in Dubuque, IA or remote. You’ll develop physics-based models and support simulations for virtual product development.

The role combines coursework with real engineering challenges in a collaborative setting. Ideal candidates are BS-bound students in mechanical engineering, with GPA 2.8+, able to work 10–20 hours weekly during the year and 30–40 hours in summer.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Registered as a full-time student at a local college/university.
• Graduation date Spring 2027 or later.
• GPA 2.8 or above.
• Available 10–20 hours/week during the academic year.
• Available 30–40 hours/week during summer.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Support development and improvement of physics-based simulation models.
• Assist engineers with simulation studies, data analysis and validation.
• Develop MATLAB, Simulink, Simscape tools to improve efficiency.
• Support automated test execution, post-processing and reporting.
• Contribute to virtual performance tests and controls integration.
• Collaborate with engineering, controls and product teams.
• Document work and present results in reports and meetings.
