Job summary

Media Services Assistant at Cal State LA supports performances and events in the University-Student Union. The role includes AV setup, equipment operation, and customer service for campus events. A two-month training period is followed by a fall/spring academic-year assignment with up to 20 hours per week.

Under general supervision, you will perform varied technical tasks, assist with event setup, and maintain equipment. A background check is required for employment.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled Cal State LA student with a minimum 6 undergraduate units and a 2.0 GPA, or graduate student with at least 4 graduate units and a 3.0 GPA.
• Willingness to work with a diverse student body and staff.
• Ability to interact positively, provide courteous customer service, and respond to inquiries promptly.
• Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and operate AV equipment.
• Experience with various technical equipment and office devices is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with setup and operation of theatre events and performances.
• Operate sound and audio-visual equipment and read daily task reports.
• Ensure security and timely completion of assigned duties; greet guests and direct to resources.
• Provide quality customer service to the campus community and support event staff.
• Assist with project tasks and may help lead Event Services Aides on projects.
• Perform routine maintenance of AV gear and help with setups/breakdowns as needed.
