Job summary

Mercy Hospital St. Louis is seeking a Critical Care Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) to join the ICU Stepdown team in a part-time capacity. You’ll provide high-quality care for intermediate-acuity patients transitioning from critical care to Med/Surg, with day or night shifts available.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ADN, Diploma, or BSN).
• Current Missouri RN license or compact license.
• BLS certification required; ACLS/ NIHSS/ PCCN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality care for intermediate-acuity patients transitioning from critical care to Med/Surg.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care using evidence-based practices.
• Perform accurate hand-offs and bedside shift reporting to maintain patient safety.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practitioners, and multidisciplinary partners to optimise patient outcomes.
• Administer medications, monitor complex conditions (cardiac, respiratory, post-ICU), and support recovery.
• Participate in huddles, shared governance activities, and unit-based quality improvement initiatives.
