Responsibilities
Summary
The Senior Transportation Officer serves as a lead worker assigned by the Assistant Director, Transportation in high-risk operations and high-profile federal government transportation contracts. The position requires a CDL Class B with a ('P') passenger endorsement. It involves securely transporting detainees between destinations and ensuring that transportation vehicles are safe and properly maintained. This role also includes assisting management in resolving unexpected problems efficiently.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist management in addressing unique or unexpected problems during detainee transportation, developing effective solutions.
- Review all vehicle inspection reports, develop summaries for transportation management, and note common issues, suggesting solutions as needed.
- Ensure all permits and licenses for assigned vehicles are current.
- Verify that vehicles have necessary safety equipment before trips and notify management of any issues.
- Properly track DOT HOS using Electronic Logging Devices.
- Assist with interviewing and screening applicant Transport Officers when required.
- Review all paperwork and reports thoroughly and submit according to policies and procedures.
- Ensure all transportation missions meet or exceed PBNDS/FBNDS safety standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; applicable state employment requisites.
- At least 21 years old.
- US citizen with a valid U.S. driver license.
- Three years of law enforcement-related experience, including two years as a supervisor or lead, or successful completion of GEO's Supervision Training Course (certificate required).
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- State Firearms License and State Security Guard License.
- Completed an approved training program in Corrections, Law Enforcement, or Military, with certification.
- Clean driving record with no preventable accidents or suspensions for the past three years.
- Pass a company and DOT drug and alcohol test.
- Ability to work overtime, travel extensively, and handle physical and mental stress.
- Ability to work up to 16 hours within a 24-hour period and report punctually.
- Ability to pass a background investigation and obtain a USDOT medical certificate if required.
- Proficiency with computers and relevant software.
