Responsibilities
Summary
The Senior Transportation Officer leads high-risk operations and manages federal government transportation contracts. Responsibilities include secure detainee transportation, vehicle safety, and assisting management with problem-solving.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist management with unexpected transportation issues and develop solutions.
- Review vehicle inspection reports, summarize findings, and suggest improvements.
- Ensure all vehicle permits and licenses are current.
- Verify safety equipment before trips and report issues.
- Provide security during offsite appointments.
- Manage visitor access and restrict unauthorized entry.
- Document incidents, security breaches, and conflicts.
- Use verbal de-escalation and physical intervention if needed.
- Track DOT HOS using Electronic Logging Devices.
- Assist in interviewing and screening Transport Officer applicants.
- Review paperwork and reports thoroughly and submit them timely.
- Ensure all missions comply with safety standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; valid state requisites.
- At least 21 years old.
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Three years law enforcement experience, including two as a supervisor, or completion of GEO’s Supervision Training.
- Leadership experience.
- Certification in Corrections, Law Enforcement, or Military.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean record over the past three years.
- Pass DOT drug and alcohol testing.
- Ability to work overtime, travel, handle stress, and work extended hours.
- Ability to work up to 16 hours within 24 hours.
- Physical and mental fitness, respect from inmates/detainees/staff, and high stress tolerance.
- Pass background checks and be willing to travel on short notice.
- Proficiency with computers and relevant software.
- May need to obtain a USDOT medical card after hire.
