Job summary

Right At School is hiring an Educator for part-time before- and after-school programs inside Medina Valley School District. You’ll lead activities, manage attendance, and support students with homework in a safe, structured environment.

Ideal candidates have at least six months of childcare experience, comfort working with children, and strong communication. The role offers a split-shift schedule with morning and afternoon hours and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in your community.

Qualifications

• At least six months of experience with children under 13 in licensed setting or school.
• Ability to lead groups of children in activities and games.
• Strong customer service and communication with children and adults.
• Reliable, punctual and able to commit to a part-time schedule.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs and stand, walk, bend, and kneel during shifts.
• Team player, able to work independently and with others.
• Willing to support additional program locations if needed.

Responsibilities

• Greet and check in students at the start of each session and take attendance.
• Plan and lead daily activities, games, and enrichment lessons by age group.
• Facilitate homework time and support with academic tasks as needed.
• Supervise students during free play, snack time, and transitions for safety.
• Address minor conflicts using positive guidance techniques.
• Communicate with parents/guardians at pick-up/drop-off about their child’s day.
• Report incidents and safety concerns promptly to the Program Manager.
• Set up and clean up program space and materials daily.
• Attend brief daily team meetings to coordinate with other staff.

Part-time spilt-shift positions are available for before and after school staff, whom we call our Educators!

• Schedule/Hours: Part-time Before and After-School Split-Shift -Monday through Friday, 6:20 am- 7:45 am and return 2:45 pm-6:30 pm. Must be able to work Monday through Friday.
• Start Date- Immediate
• Pay Range: $14-$17 per hour (based on education and experience)
• Location: Programs run inside the Medina Valley School District.

Texas State Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED
• 18 years of age
• Six months of previous experience in childcare in a group licensed childcare setting or school-type setting (will require verification). Must be verifiable
• Live within the listed school district area
• Fluent in English; bilingual is a plus

What You’ll Do

• Plan and lead daily activities, games, and enrichment lessons appropriate for the age group you’re working with
• Facilitate homework time and support with academic tasks as needed
• Supervise students during free play, snack time, and transitions, ensuring a safe and structured environment
• Address minor conflicts or behavior issues using positive guidance techniques
• Communicate with parents/guardians at pick-up and drop-off regarding their child’s day
• Report incidents, injuries, or safety concerns to your Program Manager or site lead promptly; log incident reports
• Set up and clean up program space and materials each day
• Attend brief daily team meetings to coordinate with other staff

• At least six months of experience working with children under 13 (preferred) in a licensed childcare center or school setting
• Comfortable leading groups of children in activities and games
• Outstanding customer service and communication skills with both children and adults
• Reliable and punctual; able to commit to a consistent part-time schedule
• Ability to lift 25 lbs and stand, walk, bend, and kneel throughout a shift
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
• Flexibility to support additional program locations if needed
