Job summary

Russell County Public Schools is seeking a part-time Paraprofessional in Special Education at Lebanon Primary School. You will support certified staff, reinforce instructional activities, supervise students, and assist with IEP processes and daily living activities to promote inclusion.

The role requires flexibility, patience, and the ability to work with diverse learners in a school setting; prior experience with special needs students is desirable.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of college level coursework or passing of examination as required by No Child Left Behind Act.
• Prior experience with special needs children desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, and other skills.
• Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce learning.
• Assist in administration and correction of classroom exercises, tests, and assessments.
• Prepare and adapt instructional materials for individual needs.
• Assist with record-keeping of student learning and performance.
• Support classroom behavioral management to maintain safety and order.
• Supervise non-instructional areas (lunch, bus duty, playground, hallways, study halls).
• Accompany students on field trips for supervision.
• Assist teacher with parent contact to foster involvement.
• Assist students with special needs to maximize inclusion and learning.
