Job Description

Purpose and Scope: The Part-time Specialist III, Student Services has in‑depth knowledge of functions and processes throughout the specialty area. This position acts as a primary expert and provides advice and information to others. It ensures that all LSC and department policies and procedures surrounding the assigned area are implemented correctly by others. The role primarily performs specialized functions requiring knowledge and experience in a particular field or department. Typical duties may include information gathering and review, presentation of information in verbal or written form, and interpretation of information.

Location: 3200 College Park Drive, Conroe, TX 77384.

Essential Job Functions
  • Assists students in processes relating to registration and admissions, including academic advising on course transferability.
  • Provides advice and counsel in areas of expertise such as academic advising, financial aid, and student records.
  • Informs and orients students to help them succeed in a college setting.
  • May advise high‑school students and parents on dual‑credit, admissions, and exceptional admission requirements.
  • May provide expertise to others in the processing of transcripts.
  • May analyze transfer coursework, accreditation, catalogs, and numbering/grading systems to maintain the Degree Audit system files.
  • May determine residency requirements.
  • Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned.

Physical Abilities

The work is sedentary. The employee typically sits comfortably while performing duties. Some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items may be required, but no special physical demands are specified.

Work Schedule and Conditions
  • Equipment used includes a PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment.
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position.
  • Work is performed in a climate‑controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
Salary

Hourly Pay Rate is $15.60.
