Job summary

Iron Springs Elementary is seeking a Part Time Special Education Complex Needs Paraprofessional to support students with disabilities under the direction of the Special Education Complex Needs Teacher. The position requires lifting and assisting with adaptive equipment and following behavior plans.

Responsibilities include instructional support, behavior observation, assisting with materials, classroom management, and supervision throughout the school day.

Qualifications

• Experience assisting students with disabilities preferred.
• Able to lift and assist students and operate adaptive equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provides instructional support to students and groups to reinforce learning activities.
• Observes and records student behavior; reinforces appropriate behaviors.
• Assists certified teachers with presentation of learning materials and exercises.
• Supports procedures related to physical and medical needs of students.
• May assist with self-care tasks (toilet training, bathing, feeding) if needed.
• Helps develop and maintain classroom management systems.
• Guides students to interact harmoniously with peers.
• Supervises students in various areas of the school.
• Operates office equipment (computers, copiers).
• Maintains regular, reliable attendance and performance.
• Monitors students during lunch and breaks.
• Learns and uses Google tools; checks email frequently.
