• Experience working with students with special needs.
• Proficient in educational and assistive technology.
• Knowledge of CPR, CPI, HWC or willingness to train.
• Able to transport students with a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Provide support across all environments for students with special needs, including community-based job sites.
• Assist with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning in special and general education settings and at community sites.
• Support teacher by implementing strategies aligned with IEP goals and student needs.
• Assist in data collection for progress monitoring with the special education teacher.
• Help students use assistive technology and instructional information.
• Operate and care for classroom instructional equipment.
• Track and complete access billing forms and typical daily schedules where appropriate.
• Supervise students during drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.
• Maintain ethical standards and confidentiality of student information.
• Use HWC techniques when restraint is necessary.
• Transport students to and from community-based job sites.
• Communicate clearly with special education staff, parents, and community-site staff.
• Attend in-service training; 20 hours/year to maintain status.
• Adhere to daily student/class schedule as developed by staff.
• Assist in locating community-based job experiences for students with disabilities.
• Ability to transport students via district vehicle with a valid driver’s license.
