Under the classroom teacher's direction, the assistant supports instruction, student supervision, personal care, and daily classroom activities.

Qualifications

• Higher education: associate degree or higher is required.
• Two years of college study acceptable in place of degree.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher with instructional activities and support students in completing tasks.
• Prepare the classroom and organize instructional materials and equipment.
• Support students with disabilities in routines, transitions, and activities.
• Assist students with toileting, feeding, and other personal care as needed.
• Maintain student records and complete related tasks as directed by the teacher.
• Monitor the classroom when the teacher is unavailable.
• Supervise students during bus trips and other duties as assigned.
• Attend trainings and meetings as directed by the principal or supervisor.
