Job summary

Oak Ridge School District RMS in Oak Ridge, Tennessee seeks an Individual Teacher Assistant to support students with disabilities under the classroom teacher's direction. Under the supervision of the classroom teacher, the assistant will organize materials, assist with routines, and help with transitions throughout the day.

Qualifications

• Hold an associate degree or higher.
• Two years of study at an institution of higher education.
• High School/Trade School degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher with instructional activities and support students in completing tasks.
• Prepare the classroom and organize instructional materials and equipment as directed by the teacher.
• Support students with disabilities in classroom routines, transitions, and activities throughout the day.
• Assist students with toileting, feeding, and other personal care as needed.
• Maintain student records and complete related tasks as directed by the teacher.
• Monitor the classroom when the teacher is unavailable; assist with supervision during bus trips and other duties.
• Attend in-service training and faculty meetings as directed by the principal or supervisor.

Education

Associate degree or higher

Two years of college study
