Job summary

Lansing Community College is seeking a PT Academic Professional - Tutor in Social Science & Humanities to support student learning outcomes by providing targeted tutoring and mentoring on campus. The role includes evening and weekend hours and a schedule of up to 30 hours per week during Fall and Spring terms.

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's in Social Science & Humanities, have tutoring or teaching experience, and be proficient with Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science & Humanities or education equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in the field(s) of Social Science & Humanities.
• Demonstrated tutoring, supplemental instruction, learning assistant, teaching assistant, academic coaching, or teaching experience.
• Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office Applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Available to work on campus a minimum of 12 hours up to 30 hours per week throughout the academic year, including evening and weekend assignments Fall and Spring semesters.

Responsibilities

• Provide learning support to students with proactive tutoring and mentoring to support enrollment success.
• Participate in departmental training, tutor training, professional development, mentoring, and annual peer reviews.
• Serve as a liaison for academic programs in assigned subject areas and/or career communities.
• Work in a team-based environment and demonstrate commitment to Lansing Community College’s mission.
