Job summary

The Salvation Army Midland Division Family Enrichment Center Shelter in Springfield, Missouri is seeking a part-time Shelter Monitor to help maintain safety and support homeless clients at Harbor House.

The position is 19 hours per week, starting at $15.00 per hour; responsibilities include monitoring clients, enforcing policies, completing intake, logging incidents, and participating in staff meetings while treating all clients with dignity.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 1 year social service experience.
• Two years work experience without a diploma.
• Higher education in psychology, social work, criminal justice, or related field is a plus.
• Must possess CPR/First Aid certification or acquire within first 90 days.
• Team player, self-starter, and ability to work with minimum supervision.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work with diverse cultures.
• Computer skills are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Monitor clients to maintain safety and security in the building and on grounds.
• Enforce resident policies and procedures.
• Accomplish intake interviews and explain policies; obtain police clearance.
• Assign beds and provide linens as needed.
• Log incidents in Harbor House journal and review previous entries.
