Job summary

MRO is seeking a Senior Clinical Data Specialist to deliver high-quality oncology data solutions to hospital partners nationwide. You will abstract, code, and report from unstructured records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with cancer registry standards.

The role supports CoC accreditation and offers ongoing education opportunities, with a minimum commitment of 30 hours per week. Ideal candidates have an ODS certification, 2–5 years of abstracting experience, and proficiency with MS Office.

• Strong understanding of cancer program accreditation and applicable standards.
• Experience with multiple EMR systems and clinical databases.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills for medical data analysis.
• High attention to detail throughout data abstraction and reporting.
• Technically savvy and open to learning new systems and technology.
• Organized with good time management; able to balance multiple projects.
• Commitment to data security and HIPAA compliance (SOC2 + HITRUST).
• Must be legally able to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Abstract, code, and report oncology data from unstructured medical records in line with state and national cancer registry standards.
• Ensure quality submission of all data, maintaining a high accuracy threshold.
• Support hospital partners' CoC Accreditation process via cancer registry operations and policy development.
• Engage in CEUs and internal learning time with the Quality & Education team.
• Stay current on regulatory data requirements from federal, state, payer and other agencies.
• Collaborate on best practices, data dictionaries, abstraction guidelines, and process improvements.
• Mentor newer team members, including recently certified ODS-Cs and Clinical Data Support Specialists.
