Job summary

THE MCHENRY MANAGEMENT GROUP, LLC is seeking a Senior Naval Architect to support the Engineering Design Team in delivering high-quality, execution-focused engineering solutions across naval shipbuilding programs. This role blends design with production, testing, and delivery in active shipyard environments.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in naval/commercial shipbuilding, strong ship structures and systems integration experience, and will work across NAVSEA, MSC, and commercial platforms.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering.
  • 10+ years of naval and/or commercial shipbuilding experience.
  • Experience with NAVSEA, MSC, or major U.S. shipyards.
  • U.S. Citizenship required; Active Secret Clearance preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead structural and naval architectural analyses for ship systems, foundations, and modifications.
  • Conduct DDAM shock analysis, FEA, and load-path evaluations.
  • Develop and validate shock-qualified designs for shipboard equipment and systems.
  • Ensure compliance with NAVSEA design practices and classification rules.
  • Develop, review, and redline Technical Design Packages (TDPs).
  • Coordinate shipyard checks and resolve installation issues with production teams.
