Job summary

Sequoia Transitional Care in Porterville, CA is seeking a Part-Time Activities Assistant to plan and lead engaging activities for residents. Bring creativity and compassion to enhance well-being and social connection, under the direction of the Activity Director.

The role involves developing calendars, coordinating materials, arranging outings, and supporting family communication while maintaining safety and privacy standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of experience in a long-term care facility preferred.
• Creative, enthusiastic, patient, and compassionate.
• Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to read and understand procedures, policies, and instructions.
• Ability to follow written, verbal, and scheduled instructions.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct individual, small-group, and large-group activities.
• Help develop monthly activity calendar; maintain participation records.
• Lead recreational programs, games, crafts, music, social events.
• Encourage participation in group programs and self-directed activities.
• Provide materials for residents, including audiobooks and Braille resources.
• Assist with outings and transportation arrangements; in-room activities when needed.
• Build positive relationships with residents and families; communicate with staff.
• Assist with assessments, activity care plans, and progress notes as assigned.
