Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a Part-Time Security Officer (Unarmed) in Herndon, VA. You will patrol assigned areas, assist visitors and contractors, monitor access, and respond to alarms while maintaining professional communications with site contacts and leadership.

The role emphasizes customer service, adherence to site policies, and the use of technology to document activity. Minimum requirements include a high school diploma and background/drug screening as applicable.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience is preferred.
• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Alarm panel experience is preferred.
• Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to personnel, visitors, and contractors at an aerospace and defense location by carrying out security-related procedures, site‑specific policies, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of assigned buildings, access points, parking areas, and perimeter areas to help identify and report unusual activity, hazards, and policy violations.
• Monitor access to restricted areas, verify credentials as directed, and maintain awareness of visitor and contractor activity in accordance with site requirements.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner, documenting observations and notifying appropriate personnel.
• Complete accurate activity logs, incident reports, and patrol documentation while communicating professionally with site contacts and Allied Universal leadership.
