Job summary

Colonial Downs Group seeks a Part-Time Security Officer in Richmond, VA to provide top-tier guest service while maintaining safety and security across the property. You will observe activities, enforce house rules, and respond to incidents with professionalism.

The role requires age 18+, English communication skills, and the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays. Training and licensing as applicable support your responsibilities on shift.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of experience in customer service, law enforcement, military, or security.
• Basic computer skills such as Word; ability to learn menu-driven programs.
• Must obtain valid racing license, where applicable.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license with at least three years of driving experience may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide a high level of guest service to all guests, team members, and vendors.
• Maintain safety of guests and team members across the property.
• Record investigations and incident reports promptly.
• Assist with money transfers across the property.
• Patrol the property to ensure safety and compliance with rules and regulations.
• React quickly to emergencies and communicate with base via radio.

Job Summary

Responsible for providing a high level of guest service to all guests, team members, and vendors. Responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the property and its patrons. Responds to Security incidents and provides a visible security presence inside and outside of the facility. Observes patrons participating in gambling activities to detect and respond to infractions of house rules. Will maintain a high level of professionalism, customer service, and integrity while representing the Company in all interactions with guests.

Compensation: $17.00 per hour

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Responsible for providing a high level of guest service to all guests, Team Members, and vendors.
• Responsible for the safety of all guests and Team Members of the property.
• Records investigation and incident reports in a timely manner.
• Assists with the transfer of money throughout the property.
• Patrols property during shift to ensure safety.
• Maintains property rules, policies and regulations are being followed set by the Company and the Virginia Racing Commission (VRC).
• Stands posts in various locations for extended times as assigned.
• Controls and diffuses potential problems and assists Team Members and guests in emergencies.
• Controls access to the property and restricted areas.
• Responds to calls for assistance immediately.
• Maintains radio contact with base during assigned shift.
• Checks identification for gaming floor admittance, greeting guests and vendors positively and professionally.
• Maintains crowd control, ensuring a friendly environment and defusing guest incidents.
• Composes written reports; observes, handles, and reports procedural violations and illegal activity.
• Reports to supervisor/manager on day-to-day activities.
• Attends periodic meetings and training sessions.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
• Successful completion of training programs as required by jurisdiction and property.
• Ability to communicate and comprehend information and ideas in spoken and written English.

• Ability to remain calm, utilizing rational thinking and decision- making by employing conflict-resolution.

Education And Experience

• Minimum of one (1) year experience in customer service, law enforcement, military, or security, or pursuing a degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, or a related field. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
• Basic computer skills required, such as knowledge of Word and ability to learn and utilize menu-driven programs.
• Must obtain valid racing license, where applicable.
• May be required to hold a valid driver’s license with a minimum of three year’s driving experience.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

• While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is frequently required to sit or stand for extended amounts of time; walk for extended amounts of time; use hands to finger, reach, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
• The Team Member may also be required to lift, push, and pull up to 25 lbs.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
• Team Member will be subject to an environment with flashing lights.
• The Team Member is subjected to circulate throughout the assigned areas, including the smoking area, actively observing players and functioning of machines.
