Job summary

Southern Avenue Charter School is seeking a Part-Time Section 504 Coordinator to support compliance with Section 504 and ensure eligible students have access to programs and accommodations.

The role involves coordinating referrals, evaluations, eligibility, and plans; facilitating 504 meetings; maintaining confidential records; and collaborating with administrators, teachers, and families to monitor and revise plans as student needs change.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
• Experience in a school or educational environment.
• Knowledge of Section 504 requirements and related accommodations.
• Strong organizational and recordskeeping skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to collaborate with school personnel and families.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the school’s primary contact for Section 504 matters.
• Coordinate 504 referral, evaluation, eligibility, and plan development.
• Facilitate 504 meetings with parents/guardians, teachers, administrators, and other staff.
• Ensure 504 plans are developed, implemented, reviewed, and updated.
• Monitor compliance with 504 requirements and procedures.
• Maintain confidential 504 records and documentation.
• Maintain a database of students receiving Section 504 services and accommodations.
• Review student information to assist in determining eligibility.
• Assist staff in understanding and implementing approved accommodations.
• Collaborate with teachers to identify appropriate accommodations.
• Review existing plans periodically and recommend revisions.
• Assist with transitions of 504 plans for new/transfer students.
• Communicate with parents regarding Section 504 procedures.
• Provide guidance and training to staff on 504 requirements.
