We are seeking SEASONAL part-time Dishwashers for our busy Cooking School through August. The position requires an experienced individual with flexible availability, including some daytime, weekday shifts, as well as weekend and evening shifts. Please apply if you have significant experience in a commercial kitchen using manual three sink washing methods.

The Dishwasher plays an essential role in our team! Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards for dishes, cookware, utensils, etc., using manual cleaning methods in our Santa Monica-based cooking school. The role also involves ensuring the dishwashing area remains clean, safe, and sanitary during classes and private events.

Essential Functions

• Receive all incoming dirty materials such as dishes, glassware, pots, pans, utensils, etc., during classes and events.
• Wash all items by hand according to Food Handler’s Certification standards, including scraping, washing, rinsing, and drying.
• Sort, stack, and return all clean materials to their proper areas.
• Take out garbage to the dumpster.
• Set up or break down and thoroughly clean the kitchen at the end of the day, including sweeping, mopping, and cleaning sinks and walls.
• Wash towels and aprons in a commercial washer/dryer and fold dry items.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety standards per Food Handler’s Certification protocols.
• Assist with storage organization and other projects as needed.
• Perform other duties as directed.

Work Environment

This role operates in a fast-paced commercial kitchen environment located in a shopping mall. The team is friendly and diverse. You will work as part of a team to ensure availability of clean materials and to clean up after classes. Teamwork is essential to complete tasks efficiently. Employees may be exposed to hot water, heavy items, sharp knives, and slippery floors.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for most of the shift.

Required Experience

Previous dishwashing experience in a commercial kitchen is required.

Work Hours

Part-time, approximately 20-25 hours per week, with shifts mostly between 10 am-5 pm or 5 pm-10 pm, days vary based on need.
