Job summary

Grand Canyon University Inc. in Phoenix, AZ seeks an adjunct instructor to teach Introduction to Writing for the Sciences. You will facilitate lectures, engage students with core objectives, and mentor student progress in a dynamic, smaller-class environment.

The role supports the University’s mission and Doctrinal and Ethical Statements, with a focus on high-quality instruction in STEM-writing contexts. Courses run for the Spring 2027 term, starting January 4 and ending April 25, 2027.

Qualifications

• Preferred: PhD in Composition OR Writing OR Professional Writing OR Rhetoric OR Linguistics
• Preferred: Coursework or experience in STEM or technical writing
• Minimum: Master’s in the above areas
• Exceptions may be granted to individuals with a Master’s in any field possessing 18 graduate credits in English with coursework or experience in STEM or technical writing
• Your unofficial transcript reflecting degree earned with 18 graduate credit hours in the areas listed above
• Your unofficial transcripts for any applicable conferred graduate degrees

Responsibilities

• Facilitate classroom lecture and discussions
• Engage students in learning course objectives and topics
• Assess student performance and mentor success in the classroom
• Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement, and Mission of Grand Canyon University
