Job summary

The Morgan Oliver School is seeking a dedicated Science Teacher to bring science to life for students from the youngest learners to the Liberators middle school cohort. This part-time role centers on an extended STEM morning, co-planned with the Middle School Lead, and emphasizes problem‑solving and hands‑on experiences.

The position requires adapting instruction for diverse ages, with four cohorts and a focus on collaboration, planning time, and supporting the wider school day in a small staff

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Science Education, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
• State teaching certification or licensure (preferred).
• Proven experience teaching science to elementary and/or middle school students.
• Knowledge of NGSS and curriculum development/implementation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver NGSS-aligned science lessons for K/1, 2/3, 4/5, and Liberators.
• Lead an extended STEM morning with the Liberators with the Middle School Lead.
• Design age-appropriate curriculum using the school's scope and sequence.
• Incorporate hands-on activities and projects to foster scientific inquiry.
• Assess student progress and adapt instruction to diverse learners.
• Collaborate with educators to integrate science across the curriculum.
• Maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment and communicate with families.
• Support the wider school day, including recess duty and shared tasks.
• Participate in professional development and school initiatives.
