Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid Vermont Driver's License (CDL) with Type II School Bus (S) endorsements, or ability to obtain and maintain required credentials (must be 18+ in accordance with State of VT requirements).
• Ability to pass a criminal background check and medical exam as required by law
• Knowledge of safe school van operation and student transportation practices.
• Ability to maintain a safe environment and manage student behavior.
• Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Clean driving record (no traffic citations in last 5 years)
• Ability to carry out an assigned route on time
• 2+ years working with children preferred
• Regular and punctual attendance

Responsibilities

• Safely transport students to and from school, field trips, athletic events, and other approved activities.
• Follow assigned routes and schedules and ensure students are safely loaded, transported, and unloaded and that appropriate permission is on file for alternate drop off locations as appropriate
• Monitor student behavior and enforce district transportation rules.
• Assist students with boarding, exiting, and other transportation needs as appropriate.
• Report student discipline, safety, and transportation concerns to the appropriate administrator in a timely manner.
• Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns.
• Maintain assigned vehicles in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
• Comply with all applicable transportation laws, regulations, and district procedures.
• Participate in required training, safety drills and attend safety meetings
• Respond appropriately to emergencies, accidents, and student health concerns, completing accident/incident reports as needed.
• Maintain all required licenses, endorsements, certifications, and medical qualifications.
• Establish positive working relationships with students, families, staff, and community members.
• Maintain confidentiality of student and district information
