Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid Vermont CDL with Passenger and School Bus endorsements, or ability to obtain.
• Pass a criminal background check, DOT medical exam, and drug test as required by law.
• Knowledge of safe school bus operation and student transportation practices.
• Ability to maintain a safe environment and manage student behavior.
• Clean driving record (no traffic citations in last 5 years).

Responsibilities

• Safely transport students to and from school, field trips, athletic events, and other approved activities.
• Follow routes and schedules; ensure students are safely loaded, transported and dropped off.
• Monitor student behavior and enforce transportation rules.
• Assist students with boarding, exiting, and other transportation needs.
• Report transportation concerns to appropriate administrator in a timely manner.
• Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections and report concerns.
• Maintain buses in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
• Comply with transportation laws, regulations and district procedures.
• Attend required training, safety drills and meetings.
• Respond to emergencies and complete incident reports as needed.
• Maintain licenses, endorsements, certifications, and medical qualifications.
