Job summary

City of Boston is seeking a part-time School Traffic Supervisor to regulate traffic around elementary schools and help children cross safely. The position is provisional and requires 15 hours per week.

Applicants must speak English, be able to walk/stand for long periods, and perform overhead tasks while lifting up to 10 pounds. Training in Massachusetts traffic laws will be provided.

Qualifications

• Applicants must speak English and follow oral and written instructions.
• Must be able to walk/stand for extended periods without an assistive device.
• Must perform overhead activities and lift up to ten pounds.
• Must be alert and able to respond promptly in potentially hazardous situations.
• All Traffic Supervisors will be trained in Massachusetts traffic laws.

Responsibilities

• Regulating vehicular traffic at intersections and crosswalks near schools to help children cross safely.
• Protecting children by enforcing stop directives and reporting violations by motorists.
• Performing related work as required.
