Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• CPR/First Aid certification within six months.
• Ability to perform basic math, including fractions, percentages, and ratios.
• Knowledgeable of age-appropriate activities; stages of child development; classroom management techniques; developing effective lesson plans; and planning and managing time effectively.
• Ability to operate standard office equipment (e.g., phone, copier, scanner, fax machines, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Adapts classroom work under the direction of the teacher and paraeducator to provide a method to support and reinforce lesson plans.
• Administers tests and evaluations under supervision of teacher (e.g., DRA, DIBELS, observational data for IEP goals) monitors student progress.
• Implements students' learning and behavior plans to meet students' social and behavioral interventions, health care plans, and ensure compliance with IEPs.
• Confers with teachers assisting in evaluating student progress and implementing student objectives.
• Lead small groups; learn through play; communicate orally and in writing; and adhere to safety practices.
• Monitors individual and groups of students in a variety of settings; operate physical education equipment and playground activities using standardized methods
• Work under direct supervision using standardized procedures; provide information and advise others; operate within a defined budget
• Prepares teaching materials and related reports to implement lesson plans and document student progress
• Reports incidents to maintain the personal safety of students and adhere to policies
• Performs record keeping and clerical functions to support the teacher and administrator
• Assists other personnel ensuring efficient operations; schedule activities and meetings; gather data; identify action plans
• Disinfect playground areas between student use
• Utilize resources from other units to meet goals
• Work with frequent interruptions; adapt to changing priorities; read manuals; present information
• Communicate effectively with diverse individuals while maintaining confidentiality
• Support a team environment by collaborating with own and other units
• Participate in meetings to receive and convey information
• Maintain regular attendance to fulfill requirements
• Perform other duties including supervising students during emergency substitutes
