Job summary

National Heritage Academies seeks an Occupational Therapist to provide direct and indirect services at Walton Charter Academy in Pontiac, MI. This part-time role is 8 hours per week, with a flexible, mission-driven work environment supporting students’ development.

You will assess motor, sensory, and visual-motor skills, participate in IEP/504 processes, collaborate with educators, and align OT goals with classroom objectives. Ongoing professional development is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
• OT license issued by LARA.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect occupational therapy services as outlined in students' IEPs or Section 504 plans.
• Conduct assessments of motor, visual-motor, and sensory-motor skills for students referred for evaluation.
• Participate in IEP/Section 504 processes and provide input on assessment measures and progress.
• Collaborate with the special education team to deliver services to students with disabilities.
• Consult with teachers, school administrators, parents, and stakeholders about students’ development.
• Integrate OT goals into classroom environments and support classroom objectives through therapy programs.
• Provide training on effective methods to assist students in mainstream settings.
• Develop, implement, evaluate, and adjust OT interventions with school staff and parents.
• Utilize treatment strategies involving physical, sensory, manual, creative, and recreational activities.
• Design adaptive equipment for individual students and classroom use.
• Maintain records of student caseloads and service logs; track progress toward goals.
• Demonstrate professionalism in handling confidential matters and materials.
• Pursue ongoing professional development in OT practices.
• Participate in school initiatives such as screening programs.
• Attend parent-teacher meetings to discuss student progress and therapy plans.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the building principal.

Education

Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy

OT License issued by the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA)
