Job summary

Marianapolis Preparatory School seeks a part-time School Nurse to care for the student health population during the academic year. The nurse will treat medical issues, promote disease prevention, and coordinate routine health assessments in collaboration with the Health Office team.

The role involves early detection of health problems, maintaining records, and communicating care to staff. Per diem openings and 1–2 days per week options are available, reporting to the Health Office RN.

Qualifications

• One year full-time nursing experience within last five years.
• Driver's license highly desirable for student transport.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional medical treatment to students.

Part-Time School Nurse Position:

Marianapolis seeks a health care professional who will serve the school year population. The School Nurse will treat students for medical issues, help prevent physical issues and diseases, and coordinate routine health assessments. The School Nurse will work closely with the Health Office Administrative Assistant, the Athletic Trainers, the School Counselor, and the Dean's Office in support of student health, documentation, communication of care, and managing required student medical forms. This is a part-time position held during the academic year. We have per diem openings and an opening for someone looking for one or two days per week. This role reports directly to the full-time Health Office Registered Nurse.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for professional, medical treatment of students
• Responsible for early detection of physical problems and evaluations
• Responsible for disease prevention
• Assists in promoting programs on health education and immunization
• Maintains clinical records
• Reviews student medical records and ensures records are in compliance
• As needed, coordinates vision, hearing, and orthopedic screening and health assessments
• Provides emergency aid to students and school staff
• Assists in instructing students in health and nutrition education
• Ensures there is timely communication with residential staff regarding medical support provided to boarding students
• Available to remotely support significant emergent residential medical concerns on weeknights
• Review and update standing orders with the School’s Physician

Required Skills and Abilities

• Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
• Commitment and ability to work with adolescents and families from around the world
• Commitment and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in support of the community
• Electronic database (SchoolDoc, Blackbaud, FileMaker) experience preferred but not required

Education and Experience

• One year full-time experience within the last five years
• Driver’s License required for student transport highly desirable

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Prolonged periods of standing, reaching, and bending
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
• Ability to move from one building to another on campus
