Job summary

The Instructional Library Assistant position at York Academy Regional Charter School (Upper School) supports daily library activities, working Monday to Friday mornings. It requires a helpful, proactive person who enjoys engaging with students in a multicultural setting.

Pay is $20.00 per hour for 20 hours per week. The role emphasizes collaboration with teachers, book selection, cataloging, inventory, and outreach to grades 7–12 to foster reading and learning.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required, with prior experience with children.
• Experience in library services and educational programs for youth (grades 7–12).
• Inventory experience and basic computer use recommended.
• Understanding classroom management; IB program knowledge preferred.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of student records.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily activities of the school library throughout the year.
• Assist teachers in locating educational materials and using the catalog.
• Assist with selection, cataloging, circulation, and inventory of materials.
• Develop and implement programs for youth in grades 7-12.
• Help students choose and check out books.
• Attend staff meetings and in-service trainings as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Library Media Specialist or Director.
