Job summary

Sheltering Arms is seeking a Part Time Food Service Assistant to support the Food Service Manager with meal preparation, record keeping, and sanitation within our Lawrenceville centers. The role emphasizes nutritious meals, CACFP compliance, and safe kitchen practices.

You will assist with menus, inventory, and orders, and help teach children about healthy eating while maintaining teamwork with staff.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of nutritional values of foods used in menus and CACFP guidelines.
• Ability to relate well to children and adults.
• Must be able to lift at least 35 lbs without assistance and 50 lbs with assistance.
• Familiarity with USDA meal patterns.
• Willingness to maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide nutritious meals and assist with breakfast, lunch, and snacks.
• Follow menus and production records; assist with inventory and ordering.
• Maintain accurate records and help with daily kitchen duties and safety checks.
• Assist with feeding and supervising children during meals to ensure proper portion sizes.
• Post current menus and communicate information regarding special diets and allergies.
• Support nutrition education activities and participate in staff meetings.
