Job summary

Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation invites applications for a part-time Assistant Cook in the United Community Centers Early Learning Center Program. The role focuses on preparing and serving meals and snacks in a sanitary kitchen, adhering to program schedules and certified food-safety standards.

Under supervision, duties include following menus, substitutions for allergies, and maintaining accurate kitchen records, with regular professional development and staff collaboration.

Qualifications

• Must possess Food Handling and Protection certifications.
• Experience in food preparation (preferably in large quantities).
• Ability to read and write to follow and prepare written menus, recipes and work schedules.
• Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with other staff, children, parents and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and service food according to USDA CACFP DOH guidelines and the center's weekly menus.
• Confer with Culinary Supervisor on menu changes and substitutions, including use of leftovers.
• Ensure appropriate portions for children's groups and accommodate allergies/food restrictions.
• Maintain sanitary kitchen and storeroom, clean dishes and utensils, and proper waste disposal.
• Support in data collection and management for kitchen reports, ordering and distribution.
• Perform other duties as assigned to meet nutritional needs of the program.
